Sting is finally finished. Had trouble finding sound for my sting, and have spent most of this week trying to work out Soundtrack Pro, but recieved some help from a third year to add some sound effects. However, the sound effects have worsened the sting, as it appears too static and random. The Toy Story theme music "You've Got a Friend in Me," by Randy Newman would suit the sting as background music, as it's lighthearted and happy. Have managed to attatch the aforementioned music, and with some last edits on FinalCut, my sting is now complete :) 100% completed by me.

Have finally got underway with the beginning of my sting. My PC decided to crash on me, and so the beginning I already did was lost, but I'm happy with what I've accomplished for now. Have decided to hand draw the beginning to ensure the character has some more expression and personality, than he did before. Have had trouble with how he leaps into the air, but I'm satisfied with what I've done.

Due to events, I am now working independently and have been given an extension for my sting. Somehow, I prefer it this way. I have re-edited the colouring from the last draft and have decided my character is going to be grey, rather than blue. Spoke to Sean, and decided that the ending should consist of the character looking at the Lincoln logo (the rock-face) in fright, thus highlighting it with it's light ball. Just need to think how I'm going to start the first half, and the music which I will apply to the sting. Have been looking at my animatic for inspiration, on how to start the beginning.

Steadily working my way through my half of the sting. Colour has been added to the character and the surroundings, and the movement has been edited. Relatively pleased with how it's turned out at this point.

Had trouble installing ToonBoom over Easter as I was going to edit the last part of my sting, so spent most of Easter drafting new ideas for character design. Came back to Lincoln, and started the re-editing almost straightaway and established goals for myself. At this point, I felt I was working separately and so was starting to work at own pace. Also started to finish off a digital painting of the character, depicted in detail.

26/3/10 - Before Easter Holidays

The principle was to focus on lighting, and how to highlight the surroundings. It was tricky how to establish this, but it was decided that the entire screen be black with the light appearing as a ball of light The location for the sting was also decided: under the sea, as it was simple and provided a wealth of characters and landmarks that could be used; such as the beginning where we decided that the camera could delve underwater, with sea-creatures swimming past but the issue of lighting was still in question. With the girl I was working with, we then decided on who would be working which part of the sting over Easter and research into sound. Meanwhile, I was still doing character designs for the sting. Image on the left was the final design.
